Hi readers!

Since we arrived and, let’s be honest, because we have a lot of free time we visited some museums and galleries. So far we have visited the National Museum of Archeology on Kildare Street and the National Gallery of art on Merrion Square. Both are located in Dublin 2, not too far from Trinity College.

In the first one you can see different types of antiques and relics. Some objects coming from the Irish history such as the St. Patrick’s Bell, some embellished safes and Christian crosses, etc... There is also a large collection of goldsmithery. Some items are from the medieval age including a wide collection of war weapons. Another section of the Museum is consecrated to the Ancient Egypt. Therefore you can observe some related items and 3 mummies in their sarcophaguses. There is also a section dedicated to the Vikings but there aren’t many things to see beside war weapons. Finally there are some corpses that have been discovered in mining sites around Dublin. Some are very well conserved but with “missing parts”, you can see it on the photos uploaded in our gallery.

Concerning the National Gallery of Art, we were expecting a larger collection of paintings, both recent and old. Unfortunately there were mainly old ones and not more than 10 modern artworks. It didn’t take us more than 30 minutes to observe everything.

We plan to visit other museums in the days coming such as the leprechaun museum or other national museums.

See you next time and keep following us!

Antoine
