Second article today!
Two weeks ago, on Saturday, I went to a street art event: The Evolve Phat Jam. A german friend who is doing an Erasmus exchange at the DIT (yes it’s you Anja I’m talking about) found it on facebook. Therefore a street art lover like me had to check what was going on there.
It was organized in a pub’s backyard, The Bernard Shaw in Dublin 2. It was the first time I went there; the place is cosy with a classic inner part and an arranged outside part with benches, a table football, a bus converted into a pizzeria, a stage for DJs, etc. I arrived at about 3am and the artists already had started to spray. I particularly liked the fact that you could discuss with them, ask them what they’re spraying, where they come from, for how long they have been doing this, etc. I even could ask them to show me some other works they did, their notebooks, etc.
I also could talk with the people around; some were professional photographers, event organizers or just art fans. Since I have a Gopro camera I also could talk about video editing programs, recording methods and they gave me some tips for the montage I’m going to do at the end of my stay here. Also, I talked to one of the organizers about how he met the artists, if there are other similar events coming, etc.

The person I liked the most to talk with was with James Earley who did some artworks in Dublin that I already spotted (see his website and instagram page here: http://www.inputout.com/ & https://instagram.com/james_earley/). He is kinda famous here in Dublin because of his commissioned work for the Bloom’s hotel I told you about in a previous article; among many others. I especially like the artworks he does by decomposing a picture of an animal to make it look like a mosaic.
To sum up, I spent a great afternoon watching the artists working and meeting friendly people but unfortunately the weather wasn’t so good at the end of the day and the spraying got a little slowed down. See the gallery for more photos!
Second article: done! Meet you in the third!
Cheers!
